I use many different mediums, such as paste, acrylics, pastels, and my most recent alcohol inks and resin. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style. I love that!
I am inspired by people and their life stories. I am inspired by Nova Scotia and the ocean everywhere around me. The happiest place I have ever been is here and beside the water. I wish I had stayed when I was here 20 years ago, but that wasn't my path at the time. When people look at my art, I would like them to feel a sense of calm and happiness and awe, and I would love them to carry that feeling with them. I am a spiritual person. I believe art continues forever, and so will the emotions I use to create every single one of my paintings. That is an imprint I am happy to leave behind.
I remember as far back as when I started started grade 6 and we had art class, which was my favorite subject. My art was continuously on the show wall until high school. My last art project I remember, is a charcoal drawing I made of a girl that was sitting in the middle of the class in grade 8. I remember the feeling of being immersed in the drawing and sketching. I loved art back then. I would never have guessed that one day it would be a huge passion that would touch peoples souls. Recently, I made a life changing move to Halifax, Nova Scotia. This move immediately changed my life for the better. After I arrived here and settled in, my Mom and I started rock painting and hiding them around Halifax to make people's day. It was so much fun I started to expand my horizon's. I quickly delved into the world of art, using many different mediums, such as alcohol inks, acrylics, pastels, spray paint, watercolor and collage. I have recently added resin and gems to my art as well. Immersing myself in painting and creating helped tremendously with my life changes. The immense happiness and joy I feel when my art touches another person is hard to put into words. Painting, and creating is exactly what I needed at this time in my life. I am so happy that I am in touch with my artistic side again. I feel like the last piece of the puzzle has been placed.
